Representative transactions include:
  • A $14.5 million energy savings performance contract transaction under a Department of Defense contract at the Aliamanu Military Housing project in Honolulu, Hawaii. Proceeds were used to purchase and install energy conservation equipment (lighting, motors, air conditioners, heat pumps) at the military housing project and the investors depend entirely on actual energy savings for repayment. The project is saving approximately 20 million kilowatt hours annually. The lender provided $13 million, and an equity investor provided $1.5 million. Logan Capital provided a bridge loan for this project prior to the permanent financing.

  • Six transactions for natural gas-fired on-site cogeneration (also called "combined heat and power," sometimes "distributed generation") equipment at various customers of an energy service company totaling $13 million. Three of the projects are tax-exempt financings, three are standard commercial transactions.

  • A $15 million line of credit for multiple transactions involving energy conservation lighting retrofits at multiple sites of a Fortune 500 food company.

  • An energy conservation/shared savings project of $1.1 million for a Fortune 25 company.

  • A shared savings project for a large hotel chain.

  • A group of guaranteed energy savings projects within the territory of an investor-owned utility totaling $11.3 million (also called "demand-side management").

  • Over twenty financings of energy conservation and distributed generation equipment for tax-exempt schools, cities, counties and hospitals totaling over $30 million.
